Zolani Tete was a South African professional boxer who competed from 2006 to 2022 and became a two-weight world champion. He held the IBF junior-bantamweight title from 2014 to 2015 and the WBO bantamweight title from 2017 to 2019, establishing himself among the leading fighters of his era in those divisions.

Tete grew up in the Mdantsane township and took up boxing at age eight, amassing a large amateur record before turning professional in 2006. He won the vacant IBF junior-bantamweight world title in July 2014 by outpointing Teiru Kinoshita, and later claimed the WBO bantamweight championship in 2017.

He is remembered for setting the Guinness World Record for the fastest knockout in a title fight, stopping Siboniso Gonya in eleven seconds of the opening round in November 2017. Tete also defeated notable opponents including Omar Narváez and Mikhail Aloyan before losing his WBO title to John Riel Casimero in 2019.

After a doping ban that ended in July 2026, Tete was preparing a return to the ring when he was fatally shot outside his home in Mdantsane on 21 August 2026 at the age of 38.
