Particulars

Wilma De Angelis was an Italian singer, actress and television presenter whose career spanned more than six decades. She began singing in Milan's nightclubs in the early 1950s, recording with the Vis Radio label as part of the Duo Vocale Vis before launching a solo career, and in 1956 won the title of "Reginetta del Jazz italiano" at Boario Terme. She made her debut at the Sanremo Music Festival in 1959 with the song "Nessuno," which brought her enormous popularity, and returned to the festival repeatedly through 1963, competing with songs such as "Quando vien la sera" and "Patatina," the latter earning her the affectionate nickname "Miss Patatina." She also performed at the Festival di Napoli and on popular RAI variety shows including Canzonissima, where she famously duetted with Mina on "Nessuno."
