Wilford Lloyd Baumes was an American television producer and screenwriter, born on November 24, 1939. He is best known for creating the beloved romantic comedy-drama series 'The Love Boat', which aired from 1977 to 1986 and became a cultural phenomenon. The show, set aboard the cruise ship Pacific Princess, featured a rotating cast of guest stars and followed the adventures of the ship's crew and passengers. Prior to 'The Love Boat', Baumes worked on various television films and projects, including 'The Dead Don't Die', 'Nightmare in Badham County', and 'Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn'. He also served as a producer for the iconic series 'Wonder Woman'. Baumes was the brother of Hayward Hudson Baumes. He resided in Santa Barbara, California, and passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 86 in Cincinnati.
