Particulars

Vline Buggy, born Liliane Konyn, was one of France's most celebrated lyricists, penning words for some of the biggest names in French popular music. The daughter of music-hall songwriter Géo Koger, she began her career with her sister Évelyne Yvonne Konyn, whose memory she honored through her pseudonym. Her breakthrough came in 1962 with Belles! Belles! Belles!, the adaptation of the Everly Brothers' Girls Girls Girls that launched Claude François's career, beginning a collaboration of more than 70 songs that lasted until the singer's death in 1978. She also wrote lyrics for Johnny Hallyday (Le Pénitencier, co-written with Hugues Aufray), Michel Sardou (Les Bals populaires), Herbert Léonard (Pour le plaisir), Hervé Vilard, France Gall, Dalida, Juliette Gréco and Régine. In 2018 she was made a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, and she published her autobiography the same year. She died at the age of 97.
