Particulars

Vitantonio Lovallo, known by the nickname Zitòn, was an Italian supercentenarian and, at the time of his death at 112, the oldest living man in Italy. Born on 25 March 1914 in the rural hamlet of Sarnelli, he lived his entire life in the comune of Avigliano, in the province of Potenza, though his birth was formally registered at the anagrafe three days later on 28 March.

Remarkable for his physical stamina, Lovallo kept an extremely active lifestyle, continuing to work in agriculture and tend to the fields until the age of 106. He was long regarded as a living memory and a symbol of his local community, and his passing drew condolences from the town's mayor.

His exceptional longevity was verified by gerontology organizations, and he stood as one of the world's oldest living men, second only in Italy to the 115-year-old Lucia Sangenito.
