American scientists outlined a theoretical attack against GSM SIM cards. Together with hackers from the Chaos Computer Club, Floricic successfully created a working clone of such a SIM card, showing the practicability of the attack, and also succeeded in cloning the German phonecard.

After Deutsche Telekom changed the system, Floricic tried to remove a public card phone from a booth with a sledgehammer on 3 March 1995 to adapt his phonecard simulators; he and a friend were caught by police and Floricic was later sentenced to a 15‑month prison term suspended to probation.
