Particulars

Toya Jones was an American professional football player who starred as a defensive back at Texas A&M from 1995 to 1998. His senior season saw the Aggies win their most recent conference championship, and teammates remembered him as a beloved and magnetic presence on and off the field. He was equally accomplished in track and field, competing as a sprinter and long jumper, representing the United States in the 4x100-meter relay at the 1994 World Junior Championships, and running on Texas A&M's undefeated national champion 4x100-meter relay team as an All-American. After college he continued his career as a professional, playing two seasons in the Canadian Football League, including with the British Columbia Lions, and then a season in the XFL. He died on October 22, 2026, at the age of 49, after suffering a heart attack the previous weekend.
