Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol was born on 7 December 1978, the eldest child of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and his then‑wife Princess Soamsawali. She studied law at Thammasat University and earned a master’s degree from Cornell University in New York.
After completing her education, she pursued a career as a lawyer and became a prominent advocate for women’s rights and criminal‑justice reform in Thailand. She founded the Kamlangjai (Inspire) project, which aimed to rehabilitate incarcerated Thai women and support their reintegration into society.
In December 2022, the princess fell unconscious while training dogs for an army exhibition and was diagnosed with a mycoplasma infection. She remained hospitalized for three years, receiving life‑supporting treatment for her lung and kidney functions.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha died on 11 June 2026 at the age of 47. She lay in state at the Grand Palace in Bangkok, and her funeral was held with the highest royal honors, reflecting her status as a respected member of the Thai royal family.
