Particulars

Stefania Corna was an Italian professional volleyball player who played as a setter and middle blocker. Born in Bergamo, she came up through the youth ranks of Volley Bergamo (Foppapedretti) and spent two seasons with the Club Italia national development squad, winning the European Under-19 Championship in 2006 and again in 2008, along with the Under-18 title in 2007. In the 2007-08 season she returned to Bergamo and won the Coppa Italia as third setter behind Eleonora Lo Bianco.

Her senior career spanned more than a decade across Italy's top divisions, with clubs including Life Volley Milano, Parma, Riso Scotti Pavia, Giaveno, Pomì Casalmaggiore, Montichiari, Savino Del Bene Scandicci, and later stints in Switzerland with Volley Club Kanti and in Italy with Maglie, Cutrofiano, Corridonia, Trevi, Pesaro, and Costa Volpino. In 2011 she made her debut for the senior Italian national team at the Montreux Volley Masters against Cuba.

After retiring from volleyball, Corna became an English teacher. She was married to volleyball player Alejandro Rizo Gonzalez and lived in Boltiere in the province of Bergamo. She died on 7 October 2026 at the age of 35 after a long illness, prompting tributes from the Italian Volleyball Federation, the Women's Volleyball League, and the many clubs she represented.
