Silvana Bini, known to millions as Nonna Silvi, was a Tuscan cook who became one of Italy's most beloved social media personalities. From the family bakery in Montespertoli, she began appearing in cooking videos posted by her grandson in October 2022, winning audiences with her traditional recipes and her spontaneous, sharp-tongued charm. Her popularity quickly crossed national borders, reaching millions of followers on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. She published cookbooks including "Le ricette di una vita" with De Agostini in 2023 and a German-language volume in 2024, and in August 2024 she was invited to Doha to cook Italian classics such as ragù, lasagne and brasato for the Emir of Qatar's family. She received the Italian Excellence Award, was named a Food Hero by TasteAtlas, won Creator of the Year at the TikTok Awards in 2025, and in October 2026 was honored by Forbes Italia in the food category of its Top Creators Awards. She died at her home in Montespertoli at the age of 85.
