Shelley Johannesen (c.1972–2026) was an American mountaineer and co‑founder of the adventure outfitter Dash Adventures, noted for high‑altitude Himalayan climbs.

Shelley Johannesen was born in the early 1970s in the United States and developed a lifelong passion for climbing, becoming an experienced alpinist who tackled challenging peaks worldwide. She co‑founded Dash Adventures, a U.S.-based outfitter that supplied gear and organized guided expeditions, and she led numerous high‑altitude trips in the Himalayas, earning respect within the climbing community. In May 2026, while descending from the summit of Makalu, the world’s fifth‑highest mountain, she was struck by an avalanche near Camp 3 and died at age 53; her body was recovered and flown to a Kathmandu hospital.
