Sergio Alzola
?–2026Canarian singer-songwriter and poet who for over two decades connected the Canary Islands with the Caribbean through his music.
Particulars
Sergio Alzola was a singer-songwriter and poet from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria whose creative work was rooted in the Atlantic tradition, blending insular rhythms, cultural mestizaje and contemporary lyricism. Over more than two decades of independent career, he treated the song as narrative and the stage as a meeting point, performing regularly in the Canary Islands and Madrid, including at the noted singer-songwriter venue Libertad 8. He took his live show to Chile, Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Colombia, appearing in international festivals and cultural programs. In 2026 he released the EP "Canaribeando", which condensed his vision of a musical round trip between the archipelago and the Caribbean and gave its name to a broader cultural project of dialogue between both shores. In his literary facet he published the poetry collection "Gemidos de hombre", which explored healing through conscious sexuality. He died at 48 in September 2026.
