Rosellina Archinto, born Rosellina Marconi in Genoa in 1933, was one of Italy's most influential publishers. After studying economics in Milan and at Columbia University in New York, she returned to Italy in 1963 and founded Emme Edizioni, a publishing house that transformed children's literature by bringing international illustrators such as Maurice Sendak, Leo Lionni, Eric Carle and Tomi Ungerer to Italian readers, while also launching Italian artists like Bruno Munari and Emanuele Luzzati internationally.

In 1985 she founded Rosellina Archinto Editore, a house specializing in literary correspondence and essays, publishing epistolary works by authors including Céline, Rilke, Mann, Proust and Wittgenstein, as well as the literary monthly Leggere. She later founded BabaLibri with her daughter in 1999. She sold her publishing house to RCS MediaGroup in 2003 but reacquired it in 2015 at the age of 82.

Beyond publishing, Archinto was active in cultural and civic life, serving as president of the Culture Commission of Milan, vice-president of the Carlo Felice Theatre Foundation in Genoa, and president of the Society for Fine Arts and Permanent Exhibition (La Permanente). In 2015 she was named a Knight of the French Legion of Honour. She died in Santa Margherita, Liguria, on 22 August 2026 at the age of 93.
