Romel Anísio Jorge was a Brazilian businessman, farmer, and politician from Minas Gerais. He entered public life in 1971, joining the ARENA party and serving two consecutive terms as a city councilor in Ituiutaba, where he also presided over the municipal chamber from 1972 to 1973. He later served as a state deputy in the Minas Gerais legislature, taking a seat in 1978 through a vacancy.

In 1982 he was elected mayor of Ituiutaba for the 1983-1988 term, and in 1987-1988 he presided over the Association of Municipalities of the Vale do Paranaíba micro-region, which brought together 22 municipalities of the Triângulo Mineiro. In 1990 he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies as the most-voted federal deputy in Minas Gerais, and he was re-elected in 1994 and 1998, serving through 2007. During his tenure he voted in favor of opening the impeachment process against President Fernando Collor in 1992 and supported the creation of the CPMF.

After leaving the Chamber, Romel served as sub-secretary of Municipal Affairs in the state government under Governor Aécio Neves from 2007 to 2010, and later returned to the Minas Gerais Legislative Assembly as a deputy in 2012. He remained a prominent political leader in the Pontal do Triângulo Mineiro region until his death from a heart attack in September 2026.
