Richard Riehle was an American character actor whose career spanned more than four decades and more than 400 film, television and stage projects. He was best known to audiences as the hapless employee Tom Smykowski in the 1999 cult comedy Office Space, and also appeared in Groundhog Day, Casino, and numerous television series including The Practice, Judging Amy and NCIS. A prolific presence in Hollywood, he worked steadily across drama and comedy, often as authority figures and everyday working men. Riehle died on October 15, 2026, at the age of 78.
