Particulars

Richard Morecroft was a British-born Australian newsreader and television presenter who became one of the most recognisable faces on Australian television. Born in Market Harborough, England, he moved with his family to Adelaide at the age of ten, studied English and drama at the University of Adelaide, and began his broadcasting career as a radio announcer with the ABC before moving into television. He presented the ABC's 7pm news bulletin from 1983 to 2002, succeeding James Dibble, and also hosted the children's current affairs program Behind the News and co-hosted the short-lived nightly news experiment The National with Geraldine Doogue. He signed off each bulletin with his trademark line, "And that's the news to this minute."
