René Malo was a French Canadian film producer who founded the Malofilm production and distribution studio. Born in Joliette, Quebec, he produced youth-oriented shows at Expo 67 and later joined the first crew assigned to manage Radio-Québec, beginning a long career in Quebec's film and television industry.

Malo is best remembered as co-producer of Denys Arcand's 1986 film The Decline of the American Empire, which he and Roger Frappier financed with a budget of $1.8 million. The film won the Genie Award for Best Motion Picture and became the first Canadian film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Among the roughly 25 films he produced were Sonatine (1984) and The Revolving Doors (1988).

Later in life Malo led the René Malo Foundation, which in 2006 funded the Chaire René-Malo at the Université du Québec à Montréal to guide young filmmakers. In 2013 he was appointed a Knight of the National Order of Quebec in recognition of his contributions to Canadian cinema.
