Peter Edward Van Norden was born on December 16, 1950, in New York City. He pursued higher education at Colgate University, from which he graduated magna cum laude. Van Norden began his career in the entertainment industry with a focus on theater before transitioning into film and television. He gained recognition for his comedic roles, particularly as Officer Vinnie Schtulman in the 1985 film Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment. His performance in the Naked Gun sequel, The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), further solidified his presence in Hollywood during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Beyond these franchises, Van Norden appeared in a variety of films and TV shows, including The Accused (1988) and the television miniseries The Stand (1994). He also maintained a strong connection to the stage, contributing to both classical and contemporary productions. Van Norden was married to Wendy Van Norden, and the couple had a son named Robert. He passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 75 in Southern California.
