Particulars

Peón Kurtz was a founding member of Def Con Dos, the Spanish band formed in Vigo in 1988 at the initiative of Julián Hernández of Siniestro Total together with César Strawberry. As vocalist, DJ and beatmaker, he helped shape the group's early sound, which made Def Con Dos one of the pioneers of hip hop in Spanish before the band evolved toward rap metal. He appeared on the group's early recordings such as Primer asalto, Segundo asalto and Tercer asalto, and remained a core voice through the rap metal era, contributing to albums including Armas pal pueblo, Alzheimer, Ultramemia and De poca madre. He also took part in the parallel hip hop formation Dos Tenores alongside Jesús Arispont and César Strawberry during the band's 25th anniversary celebrations. He left Def Con Dos at the end of 2016, after nearly three decades with the group. He was the brother of musician Miguel Costas, known for his work with Siniestro Total and Aerolíneas Federales.
