Patrick Muldoon was born on September 27, 1968, in San Pedro, California, to Deanna and William Patrick Muldoon II. He attended Loyola High School and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991, where he played tight end for the Trojans and joined the Sigma Chi fraternity.
He launched his acting career in the early 1990s, becoming the first actor to portray Austin Reed on the soap opera Days of Our Lives (1992‑1995, 2011‑2012) and appearing on Saved by the Bell. Muldoon secured an exclusive development deal with Spelling Entertainment, co‑producing television specials and expanding his presence in the industry.
Muldoon gained wider recognition as the villain Richard Hart on Melrose Place (1995‑1996) and as Zander Barcalow in Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci‑fi film Starship Troopers. He later starred in numerous Lifetime and Hallmark movies, performed on stage as Edmund in a 2006 production of King Lear, and produced the 2015 film Badge of Honor.
In addition to acting, Muldoon was the lead singer of the band The Sleeping Masses, contributing songs to film and television soundtracks. He appeared in the 2020 films Arkansas and The Comeback Trail before passing away in 2025 at the age of 57.
