Departures of note

Owen Ndlovu was a veteran South African sports broadcaster, a familiar face to sports audiences after years as a presenter and producer with the country's public broadcaster, the SABC. He later worked on radio coverage of the Premier Soccer League and became an advocate for musicians' rights and royalty payments.

Ndlovu was abducted on Tuesday while collecting his wife from a church in Katlehong, a township near Johannesburg, when his vehicle was hijacked by armed men. His body was found the following morning beside a road in neighbouring Thokoza, apparently with gunshot wounds. Police launched a manhunt and opened a murder investigation.
