Particulars

Oliver Jones was a Canadian jazz pianist, organist, composer and arranger born in Montreal, where he grew up in the city's rich jazz scene in the shadow of fellow Montrealer Oscar Peterson. He developed a virtuosic keyboard style rooted in swing and the blues and became one of Canada's most beloved and respected jazz musicians. Over a career spanning many decades he performed in nightclubs and concert halls, toured internationally, and released a substantial catalogue of recordings as a leader and collaborator. He earned an array of honors, including appointment to the Order of Canada and the National Order of Quebec, and in 2023 was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. He remained active as a performer well into his later years and was widely regarded as an institution of Canadian jazz.
