Nicolas Altmayer was a prominent French film producer who, with his brother Éric, founded the production company Mandarin & Compagnie (formerly Mandarin Production) in 1996. Over the following decades the company produced more than seventy feature films, establishing itself as one of the most significant production houses in French cinema.

Altmayer produced a wide range of acclaimed and commercially successful films, including the OSS 117 spy comedies directed by Michel Hazanavicius, Brice de Nice by James Huth, and Le Premier Jour du reste de ta vie by Rémi Bezançon. He also worked repeatedly with François Ozon on films such as Grâce à Dieu and Jeune et Jolie, and produced Saint Laurent by Bertrand Bonello and Chocolat by Roschdy Zem.

In 2017, Éric and Nicolas Altmayer jointly received the Prix Daniel Toscan du Plantier, awarded by the Académie des César to a producer who marked the cinematic year. Altmayer died on 17 August 2026 in a road accident in the Deux-Sèvres, together with his wife, Mathilde Favier, a public relations director at LVMH and a historic figure at Dior.
