Ernesto de Souza Andrade Júnior, known professionally as Netinho, was one of the leading voices of Brazilian axé music. Born in Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, he moved to Salvador as a child and began performing in local bars while studying civil engineering. In 1988 he debuted as lead singer of Banda Beijo at Salvador's Carnival, and that same year the band broke nationwide with the hit "Beijo na Boca." He went on to record further hits such as "Estrela primeira," "Barracos" and "A vida é festa."
