Particulars

Neil Henderson was a Scottish guitarist best known for his early membership of the Bay City Rollers and his later work with the pop group Middle of the Road. He joined the Bay City Rollers in 1970, performing on the band's debut chart single 'Keep On Dancing' before leaving in 1972, ahead of the group's worldwide Rollermania fame.

In 1974 he joined Middle of the Road, the Scottish pop act that had topped the UK chart with 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep'. With them he wrote and co-wrote songs including 'Rockin' Soul' and 'Everybody Loves a Winner', and played on albums released in Germany through Ariola.

Henderson remained active in music for decades and was remembered by his former bandmates as the Bay City Rollers' original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend. He died in 2026 at the age of 73, survived by his two daughters, Heather and Shona.
