Joshua LeBlanc, 29, spent over five years at NASA as an aerospace technologies electrical engineer, leading teams on the agency's Space Nuclear Propulsion (SNP) Instrumentation and Control Maturation program. He contributed to the development of nuclear thermal propulsion systems, including the Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operation (DRACO), aimed at enabling faster crewed missions to Mars and the outer solar system.
On July 22, 2025, LeBlanc vanished from his home in Huntsville, Alabama, after failing to report to work. His Tesla was later found burned beyond recognition after colliding with a guardrail and trees. Police identified his remains three days later, confirming his death.
