Departures of note

Matteo Coletto was an Italian competitive dancer and dance teacher, a multiple national champion in Caribbean dances. Together with his longtime dance partner Annalisa Masiero, he won five Italian titles in the salsa cubana and bachata disciplines, becoming a well-known figure on the country's dance floors. He also ran the La Guajira son dance school in Villanova for about twenty years, passing on his passion for Latin dance to generations of students. Away from the dance floor, Coletto worked as a factory employee at the Diwar company in Villanova, retiring only shortly before his death. He was a familiar face in local associational life and lived alone in Villanova with his cat. In August 2026 he was diagnosed with a tumor, and he died on the morning of Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the age of 76, after a year-long struggle with the illness.
