Marius Casadesus

1892–1981

Marius Casadesus admitted he composed the Adélaïde Concerto that had been attributed to Mozart.

Historical departure

Particulars

Marius Casadesus published a piano transcription of the Adélaïde Concerto in 1933 under Mozart's name, listing himself as editor; scholars accepted its authenticity and Yehudi Menuhin recorded it, and it was entered in the Köchel catalogue as K. Anh. 294a.

Marius Casadesus later admitted his authorship of the concerto in court in 1977 during a copyright dispute, confirming Alfred Einstein's doubts about its authenticity.
