Particulars

Margaret Kerry, born Peggy Lynch on May 11, 1929, was adopted as a child and raised in Los Angeles, where she began her entertainment career as a child actress, appearing as a fairy in the 1935 film A Midsummer Night's Dream and in several Our Gang shorts.

She transitioned to teenage roles, notably playing Eddie Cantor’s daughter in If You Knew Susie and becoming a regular on the early ABC sitcom The Ruggles. Kerry also worked as a camera double for Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet and built a reputation as a versatile voice artist, providing dozens of character voices for animated series such as Clutch Cargo, The New Three Stooges, and Space Angel.

Kerry’s most enduring legacy came from her work with Walt Disney Studios, where she served as the live‑action model for the animated character Tinker Bell in Peter Pan. Over six months she pantomimed the fairy’s movements, supplying the reference that animators used to bring the non‑verbal character to life, and she also contributed voice work for other Disney sequences.

In later years she hosted a Christian radio program, authored an autobiography titled Tinker Bell Talks, and served on the board of ASIFA‑Hollywood. Margaret Kerry passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 97.
