Manolo Solo, born Manuel Jesús Fernández Serrano in Algeciras in 1964, built a distinguished career in Spanish cinema, television and theatre. He began acting in the early 2000s and gradually became a recognizable character actor, appearing in films such as "La isla mínima", "El buen patrón" and the acclaimed thriller "Tarde para la ira". His performance in "Tarde para la ira" earned him the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2016, and he received four additional Goya nominations throughout his career.

Beyond his film work, Solo was active on television, with roles in series like "El Ministerio del Tiempo", "30 monedas" and "La zona", and he maintained a strong presence on stage. Over more than two decades he contributed to over 55 productions, becoming a respected figure in the recent flourishing of Spanish cinema. He died in July 2026 at the age of 62 after a battle with cancer.
