Particulars

Luis Alviz Cerro was a Spanish bullfighter from Cáceres, known to several generations as "El Torero de Cáceres". He began his career as a novillero under the name Capichuli, and on 8 August 1965 took his alternativa at the Plaza de toros de Cáceres, shutting himself in alone against six bulls from the Flores Albarrán ranch and cutting six ears and a tail in a feat that became part of the history of the centenary Era de los Mártires bullring. He made his farewell from the ring on 1 May 1975 in a special corrida in Cáceres alongside the local diestros Morenito de Cáceres and Antonio Sánchez Cáceres. After retiring he remained closely tied to bullfighting in the city, working as a bullfighting empresario and apoderado and managing the Cáceres bullring for fifteen years. A bust in his honor stands in front of the bullring, and he was remembered by the city's mayor as a figure who left an indelible mark on the world of tauromaquia. He died in Cáceres in 2026 at the age of 94, leaving a widow and three children.
