Particulars

Lorn Cowie was a Scottish rugby union player who represented Scotland at international level, making his Test debut against England at Twickenham in March 1953. A back-row forward, he had earlier played at district level for both Glasgow and Edinburgh before his international call-up. He was born in Glasgow on June 1, 1926 and educated at Fettes College in Edinburgh before attending Cambridge and Glasgow universities. He was Scottish Rugby's oldest former international player at the time of his death at age 100. Away from sport, Cowie pursued a distinguished legal career, serving as Advocate Depute in the Crown Office, becoming a QC in 1967, and later sitting as a High Court judge. In his final year he joined former Scotland players and international referees in marking the 100th anniversary of Murrayfield stadium.
