Kevin Sinnott was born in 1947 in Sarn, South Wales. Despite not growing up in an artistic home, he discovered his talent through youth club art classes in the early 1960s. He studied at Cardiff College of Art and Design, Gloucester College of Art and Design, and the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 1974.

For over 40 years, Sinnott exhibited his work worldwide. His pieces are held in important public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Museums and Galleries of Wales, the British Museum, and the Arts Council of Great Britain. He is best known for his contemporary depictions of Welsh life, particularly his 1993 work Running Away with the Hairdresser, which is housed at the National Museums of Wales in Cardiff.

In 1993, Sinnott returned to Wales where he lived and worked for the remainder of his life. He was predeceased by his wife Susan in 2017 and is survived by four children and 11 grandchildren. He died at his home in Pont-y-rhyl in the Garw Valley at age 78.
