Kenzo Kies was born on January 20, 2005, in Lyon, France. He was a promising young footballer who played for En Avant Guingamp and was part of the youth training program at AS Saint-Étienne. On June 22, 2026, during a historic heat wave in France, Kies tragically drowned in the Rhône river near Lyon while swimming with friends in a prohibited area. Despite rescue efforts, he was declared brain dead at the hospital. His death was one of over 40 drowning incidents reported in France during that extreme weather event.
