Kent Broadhurst was born on February 4, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, and later graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1962. He moved to New York, where he built a multifaceted career as an actor, playwright, screenwriter and painter. On stage, he appeared twice on Broadway and was a regular presence in off‑Broadway and regional theater productions, earning recognition for his work as a playwright with several plays produced at the Humana Festival.

In film and television, Broadhurst accumulated a variety of supporting roles, most notably as Herb Kincaid in the 1985 Stephen King adaptation "Silver Bullet." He also appeared in movies such as "The Verdict" and "Silkwood," and made guest appearances on series including "Law & Order" and "Babylon 5." As a screenwriter, he penned the 2001 television drama "Wild Iris," which earned critical acclaim and award nominations.

Beyond acting and writing, Broadhurst pursued painting, exhibiting his visual art alongside his theatrical work. He remained active in the arts community until his death on May 20, 2026, at the age of 86.
