Particulars

Kayla Saager was a standout forward for Binghamton University's women's soccer team. In her first season (2017) she was named America East Striker of the Year and helped lead the Bearcats to a conference championship, one year after the team finished last in the league. She earned two-time all-region honors and scored 22 goals over two seasons, graduating in 2019. Her coach later credited her with helping elevate the program's competitiveness and stature.

After college, Saager pursued a professional playing career in the Czech Republic. When her playing days ended, she moved into coaching, most recently serving as an assistant coach on Troy University's women's soccer team, where she also earned a master's degree in health and physical education.

Saager died in Tulsa in September 2026 at age 30, months after her wedding to John Beckley. No cause of death was released. She was survived by her husband, parents Ron and Noranne, and sisters Rachel and Veronica.
