Particulars
Karthik Sabesh was an Indian film actor who worked predominantly in Tamil-language cinema. He grew up in a family long associated with the Tamil film industry: his father Sabesh was half of the music composer duo Sabesh-Murali, his uncle Deva was a leading 1990s film composer, and his cousins included composers Srikanth Deva and Bobo Shashi and the actor Jai. He made his screen debut as a college student in Silambarasan's Vallavan, appearing in a gang that also included Santhanam and Sandhya. He went on to play a pivotal role in the campus thriller Kulir 100° (2009), recommended for the part by his cousin Bobo Shashi, the film's music composer. He won acclaim for his work in Kaadhal Solla Vandhen (2010) and the Telugu film Thakita Thakita, with critics praising his comic timing and one-liners. Karthik predominantly appeared as a supporting comedian, while also taking one of the multiple leads in Burma and Mahabalipuram, and featured in films such as Pattathu Yaanai. He died in October 2026 at the age of 37, survived by his wife Ramya Karthik and their two daughters.
