João Juracy Palhano Freire, known as Juracy Palhano, was a Brazilian politician, businessman and environmentalist from Paraíba. Born in the district of Lagoa de Remígio, he began his public career in 1968 when he was elected city councilor of Remígio, and went on to serve as a state deputy in the Paraíba Legislative Assembly from 1975 to 1983, being re-elected in 1978. He later assumed a seat in the Chamber of Deputies in 1986, first as a substitute and then as a full federal deputy.

Beyond politics, Palhano was active in education and communication, serving as director of the Colégio Estadual de Campina Grande and working as a radio announcer. He was also a prominent figure in the urban development of Campina Grande, founding one of the city's first residential developments, which gave rise to the bairro das Nações, as well as the Cidade Juracy Palhano loteamento.

He ran twice for mayor of Campina Grande, in 1972 and 1976, and made his final electoral bid in 1990 when he ran for governor of Paraíba. After leaving politics, he devoted himself to business activities until his death at the age of 91.
