1964–1999Parsons robbed a taxi driver with a gun, was arrested, testified falsely against Wood, and later escaped from a halfway house.
Particulars
On the night of October 16 to 17, 1982, Joseph Mitchell Parsons met David Wood in Las Vegas, took a cab to the Strip, and pointed a .22‑caliber revolver at the driver’s neck to rob him. After stealing the taxi, the two were caught in an alley and placed under citizen’s arrest by Charles Conant and his brother‑in‑law Ronald Maske, who were armed.
During the trial, Parsons testified against Wood, later stating he gave false testimony in a plea bargain for a lighter sentence. Wood was convicted and served 13 years. Parsons spent five years in Nevada State Prison, was paroled in August 1987 to a Reno halfway house, and fled on a stolen motorcycle before his release date.
