José Rony Silva Almeida was a Brazilian public prosecutor who joined the Public Ministry of Sergipe (MPSE) in 1992, beginning his career in the municipality of Porto da Folha. Over the years he served in the districts of Cristinápolis, Maruim and Estância, and was later head of the 2nd Prosecutor's Office for Health Rights in Aracaju. Within the institution he served as secretary-general of MPSE for four years, presided over the Sergipe Association of the Public Ministry, and led the National Human Rights Group, an organ linked to the National Council of Attorneys General. In November 2014 he took office as attorney general of justice, was reappointed in 2016, and led the institution until 2018. He died on 11 October 2026 in Sergipe; the cause of death was not disclosed, and the Public Ministry of Sergipe declared three days of official mourning.
