Jonathan Tiersten was born on August 11, 1965. He began his acting career as a teenager, achieving fame with his role as Ricky Thomas in the 1983 cult classic horror film Sleepaway Camp, a part he later reprised in the 2008 sequel Return to Sleepaway Camp.

Beyond acting, Tiersten pursued a music career, fronting several bands in Colorado and eventually leading his own group, Ten Tiers. He composed scores for short films, contributed songs to movie soundtracks, and released the EP "We'll See" in 2011, which received critical praise.

He continued acting in independent projects, notably portraying serial killer John Doesy in the 2012 film The Perfect House and appearing in the thriller Redemption. Jonathan Tiersten died at age 60 in his New Jersey home in May 2026, with the cause of death not publicly disclosed.
