Jonathan Meléndez was a keyboardist and founding member of the Mexican indie rock band Camilo Séptimo. He helped form the band in 2013 alongside Manuel Mendoza and Erik Vázquez, and the group became a prominent act in the Mexican indie and synth-pop scene. Camilo Séptimo released four studio albums — Óleos (2017), Navegantes (2019), Ecos (2022), and Jardín de las almas (2023) — and earned nominations at the IMAs and the MTV MIAW Awards. The band performed at major festivals including Vive Latino, Pa'l Norte, and Tecate Coordenada, and collaborated with artists such as Ximena Sariñana and Francisca Valenzuela. Meléndez was killed in a home invasion near Mexico City in September 2026, an attack that also claimed the lives of his wife, daughter, and the family nanny.
