John Nolan (1938–2026) was an English actor known for playing Douglas Fredericks in Batman films and John Greer in the TV series Person of Interest.

John Nolan was born on 22 May 1938 in London and trained at the Drama Centre London. He began his career on stage, performing with the Royal Court Company and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and appeared in productions such as Julius Caesar and The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Nolan transitioned to screen work, playing the title role in the 1970 BBC miniseries Daniel Deronda and later appearing in films such as Following (1998), Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), where he portrayed Wayne Enterprises board member Douglas Fredericks. He is also remembered for his recurring role as John Greer, a former MI6 operative and antagonist, in the CBS series Person of Interest from 2013 to 2016, a project created by his nephew Jonathan Nolan.

He was the paternal uncle of directors Christopher and Jonathan Nolan and frequently collaborated with them. Nolan married actress Kim Hartman in 1975; the couple had two children, Tom and Miranda, and several grandchildren. He died on 11 April 2026 at the age of 87, survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
