Joe Anderson was an elected official in Englewood, Colorado, serving as the city's mayor pro tem and representing District 3 on the Englewood City Council. He was first elected to the council in 2019 and won a second four-year term in 2023, after which his fellow council members selected him as mayor pro tem that December. He died at age 45 in August 2026 after collapsing while hiking Quandary Peak in Summit County, Colorado, despite CPR efforts from fellow hikers and first responders.

Before entering public office, Anderson served in pastoral roles at local churches and helped found Change the Trend, a coalition focused on addressing homelessness. He also spent years coordinating a community service project that assisted seniors and people with disabilities with home repairs.

On the council, Anderson focused on homelessness, affordable housing, infrastructure, economic development, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. He helped guide efforts to repair and expand Englewood's aging stormwater system following deadly flooding in 2018, and supported changes to the city's development rules aimed at lowering housing costs and homelessness. He was remembered by colleagues as an effective, productive, and positive council member who encouraged city employees while challenging them to improve.
