James Mulgrew, known professionally as Jimmy Cricket, was a Northern Irish comedian born in Cookstown, County Tyrone. He began his entertainment career working as a Red Coat at Butlins holiday camps in the 1960s before establishing himself on the comedy circuit in the early 1970s. His breakthrough came with his own television series And There's More, produced by Central Television, which ran for four series between 1985 and 1988 and featured his signature catchphrase.

Cricket became a beloved figure in British variety entertainment, appearing on numerous television programmes including The Good Old Days, Royal Variety Performances, and This Is Your Life in 1987. He also hosted a radio series on BBC Radio 2 called Jimmy's Cricket Team. Known for his entirely clean humour based on Irish logic and anecdotes from his mother, he performed in a distinctive outfit of cut-off evening trousers, tailcoat, and Wellington boots worn on the wrong feet.

Throughout his career, Cricket toured extensively with fellow comedians and entertainers, and continued performing into his later years. In 2015, he was awarded a papal knighthood by Pope Francis in recognition of his charity work. He died on 3 August 2026 at the age of 80, surrounded by his family.
