Jerzy Bielecki secretly collected supplies and, on 21 July 1944, used a faked green pass he prepared to cross the camp gate with Cyla. He was dressed in an SS uniform assembled from parts of German uniforms bearing the Rottenführer insignia, stolen by Tadeusz Srogi, who also supplied the form for the pass.
During the journey, Cyla wanted to give up, but Bielecki coaxed and supported her, promising they would survive; they walked through the fields for ten days.
