Particulars

Jayden Oswin Adams was a South African professional soccer player born on May 5, 2001, in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch. He played as a defensive midfielder and also as a winger. Adams began his career at Stellenbosch FC, becoming the club's first academy graduate to sign a professional contract in August 2020. He made his senior debut later that month and went on to win the 2023 Carling Knockout with the club.

In January 2025, Adams joined Mamelodi Sundowns, where he achieved significant success, winning the South African Premiership in the 2024–25 season and the CAF Champions League in 2025–26. He also represented South Africa at the international level, making his debut in 2022 against Mozambique. Adams was selected for the South African national team, Bafana Bafana, at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in all of the team's group-stage matches.

Adams' personal life was marked by tragedy, including the loss of his close friend and former teammate Oshwin Andries in 2023, and his grandmother, Marianna, who passed away just hours before South Africa's World Cup match against the Czech Republic. On July 11, 2026, Adams was found dead at his home in Schotsche Kloof, Cape Town, at the age of 25. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. He is survived by his longtime partner, Aqueelah Adendorf, and their five-year-old daughter. FIFA honored his memory with a moment of silence during the World Cup quarter-finals on the day of his death.
