James Walsh was an American theatrical producer whose Broadway credits in the 1980s and 1990s included some of the era's most celebrated productions. He produced the 1986 Tony Award-winning I'm Not Rappaport, starring Judd Hirsch, and the 1989 Pulitzer Prize-winning The Heidi Chronicles, both of which earned him recognition as a leading figure in New York commercial theatre.

Over the course of his producing career Walsh helped bring a range of acclaimed plays and musicals to the Broadway stage, working alongside prominent writers, directors, and performers of the period. His productions were frequently honored with major industry awards, cementing his reputation within the American theatre community.

Walsh died of sepsis on August 27, 2026, in New York City at the age of 89. His death was announced by his wife.
