Departures of note

On 7 April 1971 Ivan Milat abducted two 18-year-old female hitchhikers near Liverpool railway station with a knife and raped one of them before they stopped at a petrol station café, where the women managed to escape.

Ivan Milat was arrested later that day and charged with one count of rape and two counts of armed robbery; while awaiting trial he was involved in a string of robberies with some of his brothers and later faked his suicide by leaving his shoes at The Gap.
