Particulars

Ilan Dar, born Ilan Belweis on 30 January 1937 in Tel Aviv, was a veteran Israeli actor, voice artist, translator, and theatre director. He studied drama at the Herzliya Gymnasium and began his career in small film roles before joining the Ohel theatre in 1958 and later becoming a founding member of the Haifa Theatre in 1961, where he performed in numerous productions including works by Brecht and Chekhov.

In 1977 he joined the Cameri Theatre, appearing in many acclaimed plays such as 'Kastner', 'Angels in America', and 'Shira', for which he won the Hannah Rovina Prize in 1989. He also staged a long-running one-man show, 'Like a Bullet in the Head', performed some 400 times across Israel and at the Edinburgh Festival.

Dar gained his widest recognition playing the title character's husband in the popular Israeli television sitcom 'Krovim Krovim' (1983-1986), and later appeared in series such as 'Kastner Trial', 'Line 300', 'Here We Live in Comfort', and 'The Eighties', as well as films including 'Mita Tova' and 'The Mossad'.
